Paritz & Company, P. A. is a mid-size regional accounting and consulting firm servicing clients in the New York tri-state area and operations of multi-national companies. Our main office is located in Hackensack, New Jersey and we are licensed Certified Public Accountants in several States. The partners and principals of the Firm have experience in auditing and taxation with domestic and international firms.

Joel Paritz

Joel Paritz is a Certified Public Accountant licensed by the states of New York and New Jersey. He has a masters degree in business administration and a bachelors degree in accounting from Rutgers University. He is a member of the New York and New Jersey Societies of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Securities and Exchange Commission Practice Section. He is a member of the board of directors of the Bank of New Jersey.

Brian A. Serotta

Brian A. Serotta

Brian A. Serotta is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in New York and New Jersey. He graduated from City College of New York in 1968 with a Bachelors of Administration degree. He is a member of the New York and New Jersey Societies of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is currently in charge of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Department and has been retained by Trustees, Creditors and Debtors-in-Possession. His experience includes auditing, taxation, business consulting, litigation support and bankruptcy related matters, including forensic examinations of books and records of Debtors and has been retained as bankruptcy examiner pursuant to 11 U.S.C. Sections 1104 and 1106.

Keith Haber

Keith Haber

Keith Haber, CPA, attended the University of Toledo where he graduated in 1973 with a BA in Business Administration and a BEd in Business Education. Until 1978, when he established his current firm with partner Joel Paritz and Brian Serotta, Keith was an assistant controller for the Ohio Plate Glass Company and was associated with another CPA firm as a senior accountant. Keith’s broad background includes expertise in areas of audit, small business accounting, tax preparation and financial planning. He has in-depth experience in serving the not-for-profit community and home owner associations. Keith is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York and New Jersey Institutes of Certified Public Accountants. He serves on the boards of several domestic and international not-for-profit organizations and served on the board of his cooperative housing corporation for thirty four years.

Lester Albert

Lester Albert has been with Paritz & Company, P.A. for over 30 years and is a partner in the Firm. Les holds a Bachelors degree in accounting from Rutgers University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, the AICPA Tax Division and is a Diplomat in the American College of Forensic Examiners. Les is an audit partner on both publicly traded and privately held companies, co-chair of our litigation and insolvency division, manager of our Information Technology department as well as providing services in the area of personal and business taxation, estate planning and evaluation services.

Robert E. Nowakoski

Robert Nowakoski is a partner in the Firm and a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of New Jersey. Bob has more than 30 years of experience advising and servicing personal and corporate clients in all aspects of their business and accounting needs. Bob has substantial experience providing business, estate, tax, merger and acquisition services to publicly traded companies and to owners of closely-held, privately-held and limited liability companies. Bob’s areas of expertise include commercial and residential real estate developers, real estate management companies, black car services, freight forwarders and customhouse brokers, and architects and lighting designers.

Bob received his Bachelors of Arts degree in Accounting from Rutgers University. Bob is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Francis C. Decker

Fran is currently our partner in charge of SEC reporting and audits of public companies. He has 30 years of experience in dealing with private and public companies and is a partner in the Firm. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants. Fran is an audit partner on both publicly traded and privately held companies, is experienced with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and has provided clients with services in the area of personal, business, and international taxation, estate planning and business consultation services. Fran holds a Bachelors’ degree in accounting from Susquehanna University.

Theresa Card has been with Paritz & Company, P.A. since August 1987 and is a partner in the firm. Corey Neubauer has been with the firm since 1998 and holds a Bachelor’s of Science in accounting from William Paterson University. Corey is a partner who primarily works in the bankruptcy and insolvency areas representing Chapter 7 and 11 Trustees. As a partner of the Forensic and Valuation Services Department for Paritz & Company, PA, Shelley Brown provides business valuation and forensic investigation services to the legal and business communities. She has served as an expert witness for business and marital dissolution, shareholder disputes, insurance claims related to business interruption, insurance fraud, white collar crime, commercial damages, estate challenges, bankruptcy litigation, buy/sell agreements, and other litigation matters for over twenty years.

She is accredited in business valuation (ABV), is certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and is certified to perform business valuations by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA). She is a Certified Public Accountant in the states of New York and New Jersey.

She has been certified as an expert witness in Morris, Hudson, Passaic, Essex and Union counties. She has been court appointed in Hudson and Morris counties.

She is a speaker on forensic and business valuation matters and has addressed The New Jersey Family Bar, New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, The Hispanic Bar Association, The National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, The New Jersey Council on Economic Education, The New Jersey Center for Consumer Education Services, The Essex County Chapter of the New Jersey State Society of Certified Public Accountants, The New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners, and the Displaced Homemakers Association of America.

Peter Lohrey

Peter Lohrey

As a Director of the Forensic and Valuation Services Department for Paritz & Company, P.A., Peter Lohrey provides business valuation and forensic investigation services to the legal and business communities. He has provided expert services for business and marital dissolution, shareholder disputes, commercial damages claims, personal injury claims, insurance claims related to business interruption, white collar crime, estate challenges, bankruptcy litigation, buy/sell agreements, and various other litigation matters for more than twenty years.

Peter also provides independent expert services to corporations in need of fair value accounting disclosures involving the impairment testing of intangible assets and goodwill. He also provides advice on incentive stock options (ISOs) used for executive compensation and employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs).

He is certified to perform business valuations by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (CVA), and is certified to perform distressed business valuations (CDBV) by the Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors.

He is a speaker on forensic accounting, business valuation, and fair value accounting matters, and has made presentations to the New York, NY chapter of the New York State Society of CPA’s, the New Jersey Association of Public Accountants, the American Accounting Association, and the Northeast Business & Economics Association.

He received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Delaware, a MBA and M.S. in Finance from Loyola University in Maryland, and a PhD in Accounting and Finance from George Washington University.

Barbara Schettino has been our office manager since 1980. She is responsible for all financial statement processing, billing, bookkeeping and administrative functions of our firm. Before joining our firm she worked as an executive secretary to a Vice President of Chubb Insurance for fourteen years.

Pat Rochinski

Pat came to us over 26 years ago from the cosmetic industry. Pat is responsible for maintaining our client database and controls over the release and due dates of all tax returns. Pat is also responsible for maintaining our time and billing records as well as the preparation of year end payroll tax forms. She is a graduate of Claremont Secretarial School and is part way to her Associates Degree in Small Business Management.

Paritz & Company, P.A.is registered with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCOAB) as an independent registered public accounting firm. We have extensive experience with the rules and regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). We provide audits of public company financial statements for inclusion in the Annual Report to the SEC on Form 10-K and S-1 Registration Statements and reviews of interim financial information in quarterly reports on Form 10-Q. We also advise public companies and potential public companies as to the requirements of the SEC.

Paritz & Company, P.A. has the experience needed to advise not-for-profit organizations and their governing bodies concerning the financial aspects of managing such entities. Our Forensic, Litigation Support and Business Valuation Services Department has an exceptional breadth of consulting experience and the experience and credentials necessary to produce defensible valuation reports and sound testimony.

Valuation – A valuation’s underlying objective is to preserve wealth. We have prepared valuations for the following purposes:

Paritz & Company, P.A. has extensive experience representing Chapter 7 and 11 Trustees, Debtors, Debtors-in-Possession and creditors in proceedings before the Bankruptcy Courts in the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey, as well as representing Creditor Committees in bankruptcy cases. We have performed numerous forensic examinations of Debtors’ books for Trustees which have resulted in recoveries relating to fraudulent conveyances and preferential payments. We have assisted Trustees in the orderly liquidation of bankruptcy estates. In addition, we have frequently testified as expert witnesses in bankruptcy court relating to insolvency issues.
